Pharmaceutical Services Commissioning Award A new award which seeks to highlight excellence in pharmaceutical services commissioning has been launched by The NHS Alliance. New LPC Chair elected Robert Severn has been elected as the new Chair of Nottinghamshire LPC. Lyndon Close has stepped down as the Chair due to increasing work commitments. The LPC is grateful to Lyndon for all of his work for the LPC. Through his tireless efforts the LPC has made significant progress in 2008. We hope to continue the momentum with our new Chair. Robert has been an LPC member for many years, and is an experienced community pharmacist who works for Rowlands Pharmacy. | Have you been approched by Derbyshire PCT requesting patient details for controlled drug prescriptions? The LPC has received reports from contractors that Derbyshire PCT staff have been contacting pharmacies requesting details of patients who have had CDs dispensed. Our advice is not to give information over the phone. If you have had such requests please contact the LPC Chief Officer on: chiefofficer@nottinghamshirelpc.co.uk. | PCT SLA's now available to download The LPC has been working closely with the PCT's to ensure that enhanced service SLA's are easily accesible by local contractors. We have now received updated enhanced service SLA's from Nottinghamshire County tPCT and Bassetlaw PCT. We are currently awaiting SLA's from Nottingham City PCT. The SLAs can be downloaded here |
| Nottingham City PCT secures a further £422k for community pharmacy services The LPC is delighted that Notingham City PCt has allocated a further £422,000 for community pharmacy enhanced services. The Phamracy development group which comprises 3 members of the LPC and members of the PCT Medicines Management Team will work hard to devlop new enhanced services that can be provided from community pharmacy. MP Pharmacy visits a pharmacy in Calverton and Newark Labour MP for Sherwood, Paddy Tipping along with members of the LPC visited a branch of Burrows and Close Pharmacy in Calverton. Mr Tipping commented that “pharmacy has a great part to play as it has its finger on the pulse of the community” and was interested to learn more about services available. Conservative MP for Newark and Retford, Patrick Mercer along with members of the LPC visited a brach of Manor Pharmacy in Newark. Mr Mercer was 'fascinated' by the enhanced services offered by the pharmacy and said that he was grateful for pharmacy for this extra work. Both visits were organised by the LPC with a view to raising the profile of the multitude of enhanced services being offered at community pharmacies across Nottinghamshire. The LPC hopes to organise more MP visits to other pharmacies in Nottinghamshire.
